Through these eyes | 2025 Calendar

Through these eyes is a visual meditation on rhythm, seasonality and digital poetry. Each month is reimagined through an ethereal AI-generated floral motif — created using Midjourney — and paired with an excerpt from the works of Erich Kästner, the German author and poet known for his elegant simplicity and emotional clarity.

This project explores how artificial intelligence can be directed with intention, not just as a tool for randomness, but as a medium for meaningful consistency. The result is a year-long visual poem: twelve months of color, form and text — in dialogue with each other and with time itself.

1–Art Direction & Visual Identity

Creating visual harmony across algorithmic outputs was central to this project. While AI tools like Midjourney generate stunning images, they often lack built-in coherence or style continuity. My challenge as art director was to guide these outputs through tightly defined prompts, a curated color system and typographic rules — establishing a language that would unify the entire series.

–Floral Generation: Midjourney prompts were carefully structured to generate blossoms that feel soft, surreal, and chromatically vibrant — echoing human emotionality through non-human visuals. –Color System: Each month is bathed in a singular color mood, creating emotional continuity while clearly differentiating seasonal tone shifts. –Grid & Typography: A modular grid system overlays each calendar, balancing organic chaos with precision. The typography, inspired by editorial minimalism, grounds the dreamlike compositions in structure. –Poetry Integration: Kästner’s verses serve as quiet anchors — one for each month — adding lyrical weight and context to the images.

2–Reflections

This project is a study in creative control within generative chaos — an attempt to blend the intuition of a designer with the unpredictability of AI. It raises important questions about authorship, aesthetic coherence and the role of the human hand in machine-made art.

Through these eyes is not just a visual timekeeper. It’s a celebration of form, feeling and future-facing craft.
